Expedition Academy Overview
Expedition Academy is a comprehensive, year-long program developed by Adventure Ready NW for qualified students seeking to foster independence in adventure-based programs, daily life, and beyond. With breaks between terms and over the summer, this immersive curriculum focuses on creating a rule of life, self-understanding, and healthy habits related to technology, food, and fitness.
Winter Term Highlights: Students will dive into research and planning for their summer expedition during the winter term and prepare through a hands-on mini-spring trip. The focus will also include building fitness and healthy habits, expanding comfort zones with practical toolkits, increasing independence in daily living tasks, and completing a First Aid and CPR certification course—valuable for personal growth and resumes.
The program culminates each year with a student-planned and led capstone project. Join Expedition Academy and embark on a transformative journey with Adventure Ready NW. Develop the skills, habits, and confidence to thrive in all areas of life while embracing the thrill of adventure and discovery.

Tue. 1/21,1/28, 2/4 & 2/11, 4-6pm
Location: Tualatin 24HR Fitness
Stay motivated and active this winter with a four-week conditioning class! Enjoy indoor cardio and strength training workouts, access to a pool for low-impact exercise, and a hot tub for recovery and relaxation. Regular exercise boosts energy, improves strength, and supports overall well-being. Plus, connect with friends that help inspire and encourage you every step of the way. A perfect way to build fitness, beat the winter blues, and thrive together!

Location: The Circuit (Tigard)
Perfect for beginners and those refining their foundational skills, this class introduces the basics of bouldering in a fun and supportive environment. Learn proper techniques, safety tips, and how to build confidence on the wall. A great way to start your climbing journey or strengthen your skills!
Wed. 2/19, 2/26, 3/5 & 3/12, 4-6pm
Location: Hazalia Fields, Lake Oswego
Take your trail running to the next level in this focused class designed to prepare you for a 10K race. Build endurance, improve technique, and gain confidence on varied terrain with expert guidance and a supportive community. Perfect for runners ready to tackle new challenges and achieve their goals! Participants will train and have the option to run in the Champoeg trail 10k Saturday March 22nd.

Heart Rate 101 is an introductory class designed to educate participants on the fundamentals of heart rate training, including understanding heart rate zones and developing a personalized approach to achieve optimal health and regulation through targeted activities. This class is ideal for those looking to enhance their fitness routine with scientifically-backed techniques to improve physical and mental health as well as behavior regulation. Registration includes, heart rate watch and gym passes.

Elevate your climbing game and connect with fellow enthusiasts in our Community Climb class! Designed for experienced climbers, this course focuses on refining techniques, tackling challenging problems, and fostering a vibrant climbing community. Participants will explore advanced techniques, such as dynamic moves and complex sequences while receiving personalized tips to enhance their performance. This class is open to both ARNW participants, family, and friends, encouraging a collaborative and social atmosphere. Elevate your hiking skills with this in-depth class focused on winter hiking. Learn about essential cold-weather clothing, navigation techniques, and trail safety while building confidence as a leader in outdoor settings. Perfect for those looking to expand their skills and explore the beauty of winter trails safely and responsibly.

Has it been a while since you’ve ridden a bike? Or maybe it’s your first time? Our Biking 095 class is the perfect starting point or refresher. Using our meticulously crafted Glide 2 Ride curriculum—developed by Adventure Ready NW—we’ll guide non-riders from their first pedal to confidently riding independently on two wheels. Let’s get rolling!

Take your biking skills to the next level with this engaging class! Learn the art of smooth shifting, tackle fun obstacle courses to boost control and agility, and refresh your knowledge of riding safely and confidently on bike paths. Perfect for riders ready to enhance their abilities and enjoy the ride even more! Also a great refresher!

What better way to spend a day or a weekend than out in the snow as a family! Snowshoeing is a great sport to do in the winter. It combines the skills learned in hiking but adds the goodness of snow. What could be better? This year we will be returning to Trout Lake (Washington) for our Family Snowshoe. Make it a single day or find a nice Airbnb to make it a great adventurous weekend! We have snowshoes and poles for you all, but bring all your winter layers, waterproof shoes, and your sense of adventure! Meet at the trailhead at 10:00 and get back to the car around 4:00 pm. Stick around for some time by the fire and hot drinks if you like!
Please keep a group of 4 or less. If you have your own snowshoes please email Cora before purchasing. Registration included: parking pass, snowshoes / poles, guide services and hot drinks & refreshments post adventure!

Dive into fun at Wings and Waves Waterpark in McMinnville! Enjoy thrilling water slides, a giant wave pool, and interactive exhibits in a unique aviation-themed setting. Perfect for a day of laughter, splashes, and unforgettable memories!

Experience the cosmos like never before at the OMSI Planetarium, where stunning visuals and expert storytelling bring the universe to life. Afterward, savor a delicious meal at a local restaurant, sharing stories and reflections from the day's discoveries. A perfect blend of science, wonder, and community! Planitarum shows begin at 3:00, so plan to arrive around 2:50pm!

Basecamp Programs
Wed. 3/19, 3-7pm
Before you ride you need to get your bike tuned up! ARNW will provide you with all the tools, cleaning materials, and how-to! Bring your bike we will work through all the major components of your bike, getting them ready for a Spring Break Bike Camp or other bike programs! We’ll fully wash, grease, and tune up our bikes for optimal performance. After we are done we will have dinner together!

Mon. 3/10 & 3/17, 10-4pm
This specialized course is designed for individuals with special needs, offering hands-on learning in a supportive and inclusive environment. Students will gain essential first aid and CPR skills tailored to their needs and leave the class with official certification. Knowing how to respond in an emergency can save lives, build confidence, and create a safer community for everyone. This empowering course emphasizes the importance of being prepared and provides students with the tools to act quickly and effectively when it matters most.

CAMPS
January 11-13th 2025
Join us for a winter sports camp in the heart of Mt. Hood, where you'll learn the foundations of cross-country skiing while exploring the breathtaking snow-covered landscapes. Set in the cozy town of Government Camp, this camp offers a perfect mix of instruction and adventure. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, you’ll have access to a variety of trails that cater to all levels. Enjoy the thrill of gliding across Mt. Hood's serene alpine terrain, surrounded by snow-draped forests and mountain views.
This camp is designed for adventure seekers eager to learn, connect with nature, and embrace winter. After a day on the trails, unwind in our comfortable lodging with warm beverages, hearty meals, and time for community with fellow participants and staff.
No prior experience needed—just a passion for the outdoors and a sense of adventure! March 26-28th 2025
This year’s Spring Break Bike Camp will be a three-day, two-night overnight camp at the lovely cabins at Stub Stewart State Park riding along the Banks-Vernonia Trail and park mountain bike trails!
Campers will continue to learn and practice basic bike maintenance, safety & equipment checks, and riding styles along different parts of the trail over the three days. Camp participants need to have prior biking experience and be capable of riding more than three miles.
This is a great opportunity to come together in community, connect with friends, ride bikes play games, eat great camp meals, and have a wonderful three-day adventure together.
